Summer Intensive Programs

(Ages 7-18)

The tuition-free* Summer Intensive Programs in June and July 2025 give motivated and talented students ages 7-18 the opportunities to train with an exceptional faculty of visiting and local artists. The three-week July Daytime Intensive for advanced students ages 12-18 will take place July 14 – August 1, 2025, and will feature a phenomenal faculty of guest artists including recipient of the prestigious 2009 Princess Grace Choreographer Award and internationally acclaimed choreographer, Jae Man Joo. Former Complexions Contemporary Ballet star dancer Addison Ector will join Joo as an assistant and visiting Summer Intensive faculty member and performer.

Additional Summer Intensive sessions will be offered in June and July for ages 7-18, featuring both guest and local faculty.

Past Summer Intensives have featured guest faculty from companies such as Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Dance Theatre of Harlem, The Joffrey Ballet, San Francisco Ballet and many more.

Audition Prerequisites & Summer Intensives FAQ’s

2025 Summer Intensive Program Open auditions will take place January 9 & 10, 2025

AUDITION PREREQUISITES:
-Two years of previous ballet training
-At least 7 years old as of January 1, 2025; no older than 18 as of May 31, 2025, and graduating from high school no earlier than spring 2025.

AUDITION ATTIRE:
Females – plain black leotard, flesh-toned or pink tights (convertible to bare feet for modern), and flesh-toned or pink ballet shoes, with hair pulled back in a neat bun. No jewelry or warm ups. Female students 12 and over who are currently studying en pointe: please wear pointe shoes if auditioning for Summer Intensive pointe classes. NOTE: Pointe classes are by invitation only as part of NOBA Summer Intensive Programs and may not be taken “a-la-carte.”

Males – black athletic pants and athletic undergarments, white t-shirt, and black ballet shoes; hair pulled off face

IS THERE A FEE FOR AUDITIONING?
Yes – the audition registration fees are as follows:
$10.00 – Audition Fee for non-current students
$5.00 – Audition Fee for current students (those currently enrolled in NOBA’s 2024-25 Academic Year Preparatory or Teen Dance Programs)

ARE THERE TUITION FEES?
No. Registration fees vary per Summer Intensive program. Financial need-based scholarships are available for those who qualify.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER AUDITIONING?
If accepted, you will receive an acceptance notification e-mail and more information within 2-3 weeks, including Summer Intensive placement & schedule, online registration fee payment, etc.

Students ages 7-18 are accepted by audition only. If accepted, students are placed in the appropriate program or track by NOBA faculty and staff based on both on current skill level and age. Upon acceptance, students must be able to commit to regular attendance on all days of the required schedule for the program in which they are placed.
